PostHeaderIcon Welcome To The Knights Of Longshank Website

Welcome to The Knights of Longshank Homepage. We are a 13th/14th Century re-enactment society enacting the period of British history during the Anglo/Welsh/Scottish wars of Edward I and Edward II's reign. We travel the United Kingdom performing our shows from the hills of Wales to the lands of Scotland. We are not however an exclusively combat society and over the years we have been steadily building up our living history section and are currently looking for people from all walks of life to join that particular side of the group.

As ever the Knights are on the look out for more people to join our ranks, so if you have some weekends free during the Summer months and have a vaguely masochistic streak in your bones then please don't hesitate to drop me a line, we recruit from all corners of the British isles, so please don't be shy in contacting us. for recruitment details please use the 'contacts' link at the top of the site.

 We also like to keep in touch with other groups from around the country and as such would like to swap links with any willing parties. All correspondence regarding links or membership should be addressed to myself at the link below. Anyway enough of the boring bit, I hope you enjoy this site, thank you, and now read on....

PostHeaderIcon Richard 'Dick' Winters

For fear of turning the front page of the site into an obituaries page I would still like to mark the passing of a man who's name will be know instantly to many. Major Richard 'Dick' Winters was the primary character in HBO's seminal 'Band of Brothers' and the commander of Easy Company whom the show followed.

Dick Winters, a decorated Army officer whose World War II service was recounted in the best-selling book and HBO mini-series "Band of Brothers," died Jan. 2. News reports listed his age at 92. Based on the 1992 book by historian Stephen E. Ambrose, the HBO mini-series came out in 2001 and was produced by Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg.The story follows the tragedies and triumphs of the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 2nd Battalion, E Company.To Mr. Winters, these citizen-soldiers came to be known as the men of Easy Company -- paratroopers who jumped into combat on June 6, 1944 above Normandy, France. {source = Washington Post}

PostHeaderIcon Website Problems

Please accept our apologies for the recent site downtime, issues with our web hosts have caused a number of problems over the last couple of weeks, mainly due to upgrades at the data centre to improve reliablity (Irony?) Now the work is done so we should be back on an even Keel now and hopefully no downtime.

PostHeaderIcon Another Year, Another Season

Well, the christmas festivities are over, the new year hangover should have cleared and all those new years resolutions we swore we would stand by this year should have fallen by the wayside by now. Welcome one and all to the year of our lord 2011 and the Knights Of Longshank hope that it finds you well.

The events list for this year should be going live quite soon as we are just waiting for final confirmation of a couple of events before we post anything; but rest assured the Knights will be polishing their armour and sharpening their swords in preparation for what will be another successful year for the group.
